When you become an adult, and when you get married, there are so many decisions you’ll have to make that you perhaps never thought about.
One of those decisions that you maybe never thought about could be: How will we decorate for the holidays?
Of course, this isn’t the most serious post I’ll ever write, but it is a fun one!
My husband and I have been together since I moved out of the dorms. I briefly lived alone in a duplex, but my husband and I moved in together about a year after we started dating.
We lived in a little house in Waterloo, then moved to our current home near Grundy Center in 2012.
Our first year decorating for the holidays was pretty magical. We went out to a tree farm, and my dapper handsome manly man cut down our first tree.
As the years went on, I found myself attempting to figure out my “holiday style.” For someone who REALLY cares about their home, this was a bigger issue than I care to admit. It has plagued me every year since we’ve been together!
This year, I decided that I would simply fill our home with holiday decor that brings me joy, and this meant I bought mostly vintage decor from my favorite shops! Most of the decor was purchased from JB Knacker in Gilbert, Iowa, and the rest was purchased at Gin + Tarnish, Gravy Home Goods, Urban Heirlooms, and Mustard Seed Revival in Jewell, Iowa. I also purchased a set of vintage holiday cards from Earthy Mama Resale and scattered them around the house as decor, and last year I purchased quite a few bottle brush trees from 319 Decor and Design in Grundy Center, Iowa! The cute Santa mug was purchased this year, 2019, at Target.
Our tree was purchased at Kruse Christmas Farm near Grundy Center, Iowa! I love purchasing trees here because it’s SO EASY. They take care of everything and even have a machine they put the tree in that shakes off all the loose needles. They even load the tree, which I love!
HOME means so much to me, and I am very intentional about the items I choose to purchase and bring into my home. I am overjoyed by the items I chose, and absolutely LOVE the vibe!
Here is our 2019 holiday decor!
I am still going to be adding more lights in our entry way, but I feel so happy with all the beautiful vintage decor I added this year, and how beautifully everything came together!
Thanks for stopping by!
