You may not know this about me (La Rae, Wild Soul Weddings owner), but I love a good outfit. Even though I am holed up in my house with only my husband for the majority of the week, I love getting all dressed up in a beautiful dress that makes me feel like a princess.
THIS is how I want our brides to feel during their engagement session: like a goddess, a princess, a queen, the most beautiful woman in the world.
Some people say that you should dress like you normally dress for your engagement photos, but I don’t. Your engagement photos will last a lifetime and you should feel EVEN BETTER during your session than you do on a regular day. Outfit planning is important!
Today, though, I wanted to share some of my favorite place to shop for your session. This post will primarily focus on female wardrobe choices, but I will give some ideas for guys too!
Places to shop for women:
Ladies, as I mentioned in my “What to wear for my engagement session” blog post, you should have 3 outfits: 1 casual, 1 medium, and 1 EPIC outfit, the one that you dream of wearing, that makes you feel like a magical queen. You should also not dress too trendy, because you want these photos to feel timeless. Your future self will thank you!
Here are my favorite websites/stores that carry gorgeous options for all of your outfits:
Lulus – Lulus dresses are AMAZING!! I absolutely love their selection.
Unique Vintage – This boutique is perfect if you love vintage style clothing! They have options from every era, including modern.
Asos – Amazing selection!
Modcloth – Another awesome option if you love vintage-y style dresses/clothing!
Charlotte Russe – I really love CR’s selection of shoes! If you are a girl with thick calves, their boots are awesome!
Forever 21 – You can visit their store in Coralville, Iowa, or Des Moines, Iowa, if you don’t want to order online. I believe most plus size are only available online, though.
Venus – This online boutique has a lot of great options!
Bohme Boutique – They have a location in Lindale Mall in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, if you want to stop in the store! Love their boho style.
Shein – Shein has amazing options for all sized women! Make sure you order in advance to make sure the items are a good fabric and fit. Sometimes they are hit and miss, but at their low prices, it’s worth it! Returns are super easy as well.
Boohoo Boutique: Love clothes from here! I haven’t ordered anything from here personally, but another place with lots of options for lower prices.
Kohls – I love Kohls because it carries the Lauren Conrad brand, which always has cute outfit ideas!
Target – Target almost never fails. If you’re in a bind, hit up Target
Amazon: If you have time, you can order from Amazon. Many of Amazon’s items are from Asia, so make sure you allow enough time to try something on and order something new if it doesn’t fit. Also make sure to read reviews!!
Ross Dress for Less- Our second shooter Lexy adores Ross! They don’t sell online, so hopefully you have one near you.
Nordstrom Rack – Similar to Ross, you have to have a local store to shop at. Lots of bloggers love Nordstrom!
Places to shop for men:
Men are easier to dress, right? Basically he will need a pair of jeans, a pair of dress pants, and some nice shirts. Unless you guy has certain colors he can’t wear, start with your outfit and then build his outfit off of yours. If he has a certain color of hair and doesn’t like wearing certain colors, have him choose the colors he will wear, then build your outfit, and then build his.
