Choosing anything about your wedding can be difficult, but picking the right wedding professionals is probably the most difficult. Hopefully, most people only get married once, so that means you and your fiance have no idea what you are doing. That’s ok! Luckily now there are really cool things like Facebook groups and Google to help you find wedding professionals.
Basically, you want to find someone who produces quality images and videos that you like, has experience and knows how to take charge, and has a personality that you enjoy. Each of these things are equally important, and I would say that you absolutely need to have 3/4 if you are going to enjoy your day and not regret your choices later.
So, here is the actual list!:
- Editing Style: Light and airy or deep and moody? Bright colors or muted colors? Film-inspired? Classic? Clean? You will need to decide how you want your photos to look, and find someone who edits that way. (Wild Soul Weddings leans towards film-inspired, deep and moody, and unposed, meaning we prefer to shoot you and your beloved in authentic moments 😉 )
- Quality: This kind of goes with #3, experience. Usually quality is tied to experience, but not always! This is where the importance of viewing their portfolio comes in. You’ll want to look at weddings that they’ve done that are like yours, ie, indoor weddings if you plan on having it inside, or outdoor weddings if you plan on being in the wild blue yonder.
- Experience: Experience, as stated, goes with quality, but it also makes a difference with posing and time management. Professionals who are experienced usually have posing down a little more, they know light, and they know how to keep everyone on the timeline. Timelines are important because you want to make sure you get everything you want!
- Personality: Once you find a few people that fulfill the above criteria, you should absolutely interview them! Meet with them face to face or on FaceTime, Zoom, Skype, whatever, so that you can get a feel for their personality. Personality may seem like it won’t matter, but it absolutely does. The personality of your wedding professionals MAKES the day. If your photographer is light-hearted, fun, humorous, and sweet (hey, this sounds a lot like someone I know ), then your day will be way more fun!
- Benefits: What does the potential photographer/videographer offer their clients? Is it JUST the service? Here at Wild Soul Weddings, we want our clients to feel exquisitely cared for, so we offer a client portal where you can find all of your contracts and our emails, we offer an exclusive Very Important Bride Facebook group, we are available to meet with you as many times as you need (within reason), we give you our cell phone number so you can contact us any time, you receive 50% off of boudoir sessions until your wedding, and you receive 50% off of all sessions (excluding boudoir) forever after your wedding!
- Check Reviews! Of course, check reviews! You can usually find reviews on Facebook, Google, and Wedding Wire!
So there you have it! Using this guide, you will definitely find your ideal wedding photographer/videographer! Hopefully Wild Soul Weddings is in the running, and we would be HAPPY to meet with you to learn more about your dream wedding!
xoxo,
